So this 24-year-old Nigerian Dude built a functional Helicopter using junk parts, because, and I’m paraphrasing here “it was easier to build a helicopter than a car”.
A 133 hp Honda Civic engine powers it, its 12 feet long, has 4 Toyota car seats and flying it is as simple as:
You start it, allow it to run for a minute or two and you then shift the accelerator forward and the propeller on top begins to spin,” he explains. “The further you shift the accelerator the faster it goes and once you reach 300 rpm you press the joystick and it takes off.

Let me give you a bit of background on this. About a month ago we started Dumbfiles, which we host on Dreamhost, which has been wonderful to us for over a year. The problem is that we’ve experienced a ton of issues with our service lately and this might hinder Dumbfiles’ growth. So we started looking around for other hosts (which by the way, is awful, all the review sites are paid, if you know of any non-biased review, let me know).
We looked at Hostgator, but of course, they’re known for suspending accounts for excessive CPU usage out of the blue. We looked at MediaTemple, but they don’t provide the bandwidth we need. And finally we stumbled upon Site5. $18 a month gives you 10 TB of bandwidth and 1 TB of storage. THAT IS TWICE WHAT WE’VE GOT WITH DREAMHOST!!!! Surely there had to be a catch, but I couldn’t find their Terms of Service, so I headed over the their sign-up page. I started filling out all the usual stuff, and as I was about the hit the "SUBMIT ORDER" button, when I decided to check out their TOS (which is located here). This is what I found.
Note: Pornography and sex-related merchandising are prohibited on any Site5 Internet Solutions, Inc. server. This includes sites that may infer sexual content, or link to adult content elsewhere. This is also true for sites that promote any illegal activity or content that may be damaging to Site5 Internet Solutions, Inc. servers or any other server on the internet. Links to such materials are also prohibited.
OK, fine, no porn and illegal shenanigans, but disallowing "sites that may infer sexual content, or link to adult content elsewhere" seems a bit extreme. That means that I can’t blog about Jenna Jameson the porn star. That means that if someone says that they are going to hump a goat on a comment on my blog, I’ll get suspended with Site5? Isn’t that a bit extreme?
So, we’re keeping Dreamhost. They’re friendly and generous. We just need to expand Dumbfiles as much as possible so that we can move to our own co-located server. As a matter of fact…you can help! Go sign up for an account….its free!
Update #1. [This guy] is having all sorts of issues with Dreamhost. I’m afraid that now that they’re 10, their network is falling apart…c’mon…a core router is down and there is no redundancy in place to remedy that?
Update #2. Anyone know of a reliable web host that provides at least 1 TB and disk space and 2 or 3 TB of bandwidth? I’ll be happy to use a referral code…

The World’s Most Famous Midget

Last night a huge question came into my head; what is the difference between a midget and a dwarf. I asked my girlfriend and she said that a midget was under 5 feet and a dwarf was under 4. I was very skeptical of this answer (because that would make all dwarves midgets…very confusing) so I decided to Google the word "midget" . Well, the first result was the Wikipedia entry for midget and the second result was Eric the Midget’s (or the Astronaut, Actor…) Wikipedia entry.
For those of you who aren’t fans of Howard Stern (and don’t pay $13/mo for Sirius Satellite Radio) Eric is a frequent caller to the show and an endless source of comedy.
The dude even has a an entry in IMDB…he was in an episode of Xena? And according to Something Awful, he ranked 3 in the Big ten list of little people.
"Lynch makes the list and ranks so high because he is an uncommonly angry and possibly even evil midget. He is surly even when being offered gifts and compensation. What is it with these 2 videos that have me laughing to tears every time I watch them? I find myself rewinding them and playing them over and over and over…
Is there something wrong with me that I find it outrageously funny to watch these girls getting the $hit knocked out of them by their parents (I assume) who throw (or kick) big inflatable balls at their heads? Gotta love the slow-mo action too. Here are the videos…
I love that this on has sound. Also, doesn’t the girl look like an ostrich with its head stuck in a hole, after she got knocked out?
Why would you let your little girl be your goal-keeper. Also, that must’ve hurt. I’ve never seen anyone pretty much do a back-flip when getting knocked around.

OK…so someone I know (no clue who the hell it is) played the best prank ever on me today (and its still going on…). He/She got on Craigslist and posted an ad selling my car for very, very cheap. The problem is that he/she included my cellphone number. All of a sudden I started a ton of calls asking about car for sale on Craigslist. Take a look at the ad for yourself…

Good thing my cellphone's battery died on me, otherwise my phone wouldn't have stopped ringing. So far, I've received 37 voicemails (also a good thing that I've got Youmail instead of my standard voicemail, because I can just delete all voicemails from their web panel). The person who did this, knows my car pretty well, and posted pretty much every detail about it. He also requested not to get emails and that I would be available to take calls till 12 AM.
EDIT#1. I contacted Craigslist and within 15 minutes they responded and they removed the ad, even though it was 9pm.
EDIT#2. I found out who did the prank…well…he actually admitted to doing it even though he was the first person I called asking if he was the one who did it. It was my asshole, shithead, douche-bag of a partner, Matt. Please call him repeatedly about a 2001 Trans Am selling for $3199 at his cellphone (818) 432-….ehh…nevermind. Appearntly he doesn't like it when I scare the shit out of him but banging on the door when he's alone at the office coding…

I just finished reading the story of Michael Righi, who got arrested after not showing his receipt when leaving a Circuit City in Ohio and for not showing his Drivers License to a cop, even though he was not operating (read: driving) a car. I encourage you to read his story and donate to his cause if you can!
