AT&T’s New Data Plans
AT&T revealed today their new data plans along with the announcement of the the availability of data tethering for iPhones, just in time for the big event next week where Steve Jobs will (most likely) announce the forth generation iPhone. They will no longer offer $30 unlimited data plans (their unlimited was really never unlimited, it had a soft-cap of 5GB), instead they’ll offer a 200 MB capped plan for $15 or 2 GB for $25, with each additional GB priced at $10. Upgrade from a 3G to 3GS Iphone for $200 NOW
We all know by now that Apple announced the iPhone 3GS, an upgrade to 3G (the S stands for speed) which will be available this Friday (June 19th). Its faster and takes videos (reviews here and here). They also announced the upgrade options which produced a lot of uproar amongst people who purchased an iPhone 3G; they are now required to pay $400 (or $500 or the 32GB) to do an early upgrade. These people that still have a year left on their contract and they still are upset because at&t won’t allow them to upgrade for the full subsidized amount of $200. Now, I don’t blame at&t, and they’ve even announced a 3 month grace period to try to appease some clients, but hey, they don’t need to lower the price even further; the demand is there.
So, let me let you in on a little tip on how to get a new iPhone 3GS for $200 (or less) if you have a regular 3G.
SELL YOUR OLD ONE!Put it on Craigslist or eBay or just offer it to co-workers and friends. There are plenty of people who’d rather pay $200 for a used iPhone sans-contract, rather than $99 (which comes out More >
What I want for my IPhone
1. Push notifications
I want this just because of instant messaging. I use AIM, MSN and Yahoo Messenger, and even though Palringo does a good job, it isn’t enough. I’ve been looking at BeeJiveIM but I’m hesitant to spend $16 on an app with functionality that should be built into the IPhone.
2. Slingplayer
Sling announced many months ago that they were developing a Slingplayer for the IPhone but they haven’t delivered yet. C’mon Sling, it can’t be that hard! They say Q1 2009, again and again.
3. Sirius Satellite Radio streaming
Again, another promise that hasn’t been delivered. I mean…how hard can it be? Many other does it already (Pandora), it basically needs to authenticate a username/password, display the chanels and start the stream…we don’t need fancy time-shifting or anything, just a mid-quality stream. But, then again, it might be closer than we think
