I got kind of exited a yesterday when I heard from my girlfriend that they are going to take one of our favorite shows (or novela) "Sin tetas no hay paraiso" (which translates more accurately to "Without Tits there is no Paradise") to NBC and Telemundo, and make it into an regular series, various sources have reported.
Now I was fortunate enough to get a hold of the original 7 DVDs brought directly from Colombia (now don't download them via BitTorrent, because that would be a shame, and very, very wrong) and my girlfriend and I have been hooked on it ever since.
This is a Sopranos type of a series; sex, mafia, money, corruption, violence and beautiful women. I would think it would be more appropriate to have it on a paid network such as HBO, so the story remains truthful to the book by the same title, like the novela did.
Sin Tetas no Hay Paraiso is the story of a poor 17 year-old girl, Catalina, from Pereira, Colombia who becomes obsessed with having large breasts and will do everything (and I mean everything) to achieve this goal. The illegal-drug trade, prostitution, corruption in government, sicarios (for-pay killers) and the obsession with having large breasts are some of the subjects in the book, and therefor, in the series, which is a faithful illustration of the book. This series has been a huge hit in Colombia, stirring up controversy, and is likely to become a success in the United States if produced properly (just like Ugly Betty, another adaption of a Colombia novela, Yo Soy Betty La Fea).
If you understand spanish, I recommend you get a hold of the DVDs (now, again, don't go ahead and illegaly download them via BitTorrent), just wait until they become available in the US (never).
